Philosophy

The Middle School curriculum stresses academic skills and preparations for higher learning. The Middle School Program focuses on individual growth, in traditional subjects as well as numerous opportunities for cross-curricular learning.

The foundation of the Middle School curriculum is shaped by an emphasis on study skills related to all  subject areas; organizational skills including the management of time, space and materials; and physical development.  Additionally, personal responsibility and integrity are considered key components of a student's development and formulate a central theme across the curriculum.

In fifth and sixth grades, students take two courses in language arts, literature and grammar, along with math, social studies or history, science, and physical education.  Students have semester courses in music, art, Spanish, and computer science.

In seventh and eighth grades, students add Latin and continue studies of history, math, science, English, and physical education. Students are allowed to choose four electives from course offerings that include drama, musical theater, digital photography, digital documentary, art, computer programming, choir, nature explorations, and anthropology.
