Computer Science and Technology

The goal of the Middle School technology curriculum is to develop student computer and technology skills to meet the demands of a technological society.

In fifth and sixth grades, students build on skills introduced in Lower School.  Emphasis is placed on electronic research, spreadsheets in Excel, and digital presentations in PowerPoint.

The coursework in seventh and eighth grades includes continued reinforcement of skills learned in Microsoft Office and the use of HTML to produce several Web pages.  Students will also be introduced to fundamental principles of computer science, including number systems and symbolic logic, and to elementary Java-based computer programming using the Jeroo and Alice graphical development environments.
